American rapper Nicki Minaj has opened up about her relationship with God, revealing that her rise to global stardom forced her away from regular church attendance, even though her faith remains strong.
Speaking on a recent episode of The Bryce Crawford Podcast, the award-winning rapper said she stopped going to church after her music career began taking off because her performance schedule often left her exhausted on weekends.
“Once my career started taking off, I stopped going to church. I was working on Friday nights and Saturday nights, so the last thing I could do was wake up on Sunday mornings to go to church,” Minaj said during the interview.
The rapper, however, stressed that stepping away from church services did not mean abandoning her faith.
According to her, she still maintains a personal relationship with God and continues to grow spiritually despite the demands of fame and life in the entertainment industry.
Minaj admitted that consistency has sometimes been a challenge but said her faith has deepened over the years as she navigates the pressures of celebrity life.
She also claimed that “constant spiritual warfare” in the music industry deliberately sidelines talented artistes who refuse to comply with their demands, including hers, noting that success exposed her to battles she was not fully prepared for when she entered the business.
“I wish I would have known sooner that this music industry was such a spiritual experience,” she said, adding that her journey has strengthened her belief in God and the importance of spiritual growth.
